A nearly half-billion dollar expansion project at Simplot was announced this morning in Portage la Prairie by Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister.
The announcement was staged at Enns Brothers with the premier explaining the investment will allow Simplot’s production to double and create 87 new jobs at one of the area’s most important employers. The expansion will see the plant increase in size to 460,000 square feet from the present 180,000.
Premier Brian Pallister made the announcement with RM of Portage la Prairie Reeve Kam Blight, Portage la Prairie Mayor Irvine Ferris, Portage MLA Ian Wishart and Minister of Agriculture Ralph Eichler.
The province will provide a $6.3-million tax break and $522,000 for training employees.
