Ryle Ann Steeden was awarded first prize in the annual Manitoba Country Voice amateur talent contest March 31 at the William Glesby Centre. She also received the crowd’s personal stamp of approval earning the People’s Choice Award.

Nine contestants: Haley L’Heureux, Jessica Lukin, Kelly MaCaulay, Rebecca Brooks, Trevor Lang, Jennifer Campbell, Josie Byers, Krista Rey and Ryle Ann Steeden, put it on the line for judges Ray St. Germain, Ross Rotelink and Jerry Maksymyk and the supportive Saturday night audience.

Krista Rey won second prize and Jennifer Campbell third out of a very tough to judge talented field of performers.

Newton/Rona, Ian’s Hardware, Sun Life Financial and Omega Funeral Home sponsored the prizes in the Colleen Flynn and Charlie and Mavis Brennan production. Brennan’s Bounty was the featured band.
