Portage concert to benefit Humboldt “hockey family”

Internationally, nationally, provincially, in Portage la Prairie schools and in Stride Place on Wednesday, Broncos jerseys are being worn as a sign of compassion and understanding following the tragedy earlier this month that took 16 bright lights from the Humboldt Broncos hockey family. As Thursday brought the sad news the death toll in the Humboldt Broncos tragedy rose to 16, the Portage Regional Recreation Authority (PRRA), Golden West and the City of Portage la Prairie announced a benefit concert to aid in whatever ways possible.

Local music titans Doc Walker and 2017 Manitoba Country Music Awards Group of the Year, Petric, will perform acoustic sets during an April 18 concert at Stride Place.

The power of crowdfunding has raised over $9 million in a GoFundMe account as of midday April 12.

Portagers will have their chance to show their hearts as admission to the 7 p.m. concert is by donation.
