This is the Sharpe Sisters fourth annual Spring concert May 17 at the First Presbyterian Church and it has always been their first show of the year following sister Carolyn’s return from the winter in Texas.

“It is a wonderful venue where we come together again as the “Sharpe Sisters” to celebrate spring,” says Kathy Bryce, one of the talented trio. “We are always excited to reconnect with everyone in our own community who always make us feel so welcome.”

The Sharpe Sisters this year are introducing two special guests; cousins Megan and Jennifer Gair.

“Our beautiful and talented young cousins were born and raised in Winnipeg but have strong roots in Portage la Prairie with their parents Bob and Michele (Panko) Gair who hail from Portage along with their grandparents, our Aunt the late Marge Panko; Nick Panko and Dave and Mary Jane Gair.

Unlike their country crooning cousins, the Sharpe Sisters, Megan and Jennifer’s genre is Indie folk music. Megan, 22, has been singing as far back as she can remember and in her early teens learned to play guitar from her Dad. She also plays the Ukulele, piano and violin – all self-taught. Jennifer, 19, began singing when she was about 12-years-old and plays the ukulele. “It is remarkable that neither one has had voice lessons when you listen to their beautiful harmonies which are perfect for their love of folk music.

“We have some new originals that honour our family members and our life growing up in a large musical family of 10. We continue to recapture some of the older songs that our mom loved as well as some favourites from our teen years. We had a very successful CD Release “Lookin Back” in 2016 and are working on our second one with the hopes of having it done this fall.

Please join us on May 17, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church 17 Royal Rd. S. Portage la Prairie.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Concert from 7 – 9 p.m. Tickets $15 each and available at the door or Church Office Tuesday-Saturday 9-12 and 1-5 p.m.
