A visit to the Fort la Reine Museum website gets you a “We’re under construction” message, “Please check back for an update soon”. A visit to the museum reveals a sign that last week invited everyone to visit on opening day May 10 but is now blank. The message has been removed.

A telephone message from Fort la Reine Museum Board Chairman Dale Wood on the weekend said the board would meet this week to set a new agenda now that it has decided to not renew the contract with Tracey Turner, its former executive director and curator of eight years.

An April 30 email from Wood now sets that meeting on May 3. “We will go forward from there,” Wood said in the email.

On April 28 Wood confirmed the board would not renew Turner’s contract which expired April 30.

“We’re going in a different direction,” Wood said. “Right now we’re just totally up in the air.
