The Portage Citizen — With less than two weeks to go until The Portage & District Arts Centre’s most important annual fundraiser — Celebration of the Arts — organizers are saying today plans for the well-run and well-supported event are shaping up.
“We are very pleased to announce that the Sharpe Sisters have agreed to perform three of their songs at our gala, says Margaret Bernhardt-Lowdon, PDAC executive director. “They will be part of the entertainment line-up that highlights the talented people in our community. The Sharpe Sister have shared that, “we are thrilled to be a part of this gala evening in support of the artists in our home community. The diversity of talented artists in Portage la Prairie is phenomenal and this fundraising event will enable the arts centre to continue to provide all artists with the programming and showcasing that is worthy of our community. We were born and raised south of Portage la Prairie and are honoured to share our music at this event”.
Bernhardt-Lowdon adds, Stephanie McKim, Maggie Davidson, Jacob Zwarich, local dance students and Rusty Rutherford are also included in the program.
“Celebration of the Arts is our main fundraising event of the year and money raised will help us continue to offer diverse programming in the visual, expressive and performing arts”, says Lee Beaton, arts centre marketing and events coordinator. “We will also have a silent, rainbow and live auction.”
The Portage & District Arts Centre’s Celebration of the Arts gala will take place on May 25 at the William Glesby Centre.
Tickets to the gala are $100 and can be purchased at the Portage & District Arts Centre Gift Shop or by calling 204-239-6029. For further information contact Lee Beaton, marketing and events coordinator.
