Armed robbery at compost site
Police are asking for public assistance to help identify suspects involved in a May 24 armed robbery in Portage la Prairie.
At approximately 6 a.m. police say a victim was approached by two suspects at the north end city compost site. The victim was reportedly threatened with a firearm and struck with a blunt object. The suspects made off with a wallet and a bicycle.
Both suspects are described as being Indigenous males exhibiting behaviour suggesting the possible influence of drugs or alcohol. The first suspect is described as having fair skin, close to 6’ tall with an imposing build and a fiery tattoo on his upper arm. The second suspect is described as having darker skin, also about 6’ tall with an imposing build.
Police call for witnesses to Royal Rd. N beating
RCMP are asking for community help to identify suspects involved in a May 23 aggravated assault on Royal Rd. N.
Police responded early evening May 23 to the assault reported in the 400 block of Royal Rd. N to find a victim who was severely beaten. The victim remains in critical condition in a Winnipeg hospital.
Police say the victim was attacked by unidentified suspects and received severe, life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Portage General Hospital for immediate care before being transferred to Winnipeg.
Officers held the scene and surrounding area around the home, allowing Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Services, and Major Crime investigators to conduct thorough searches for physical evidence and potential witnesses.
May 5 aggravated assault on Saskatchewan Ave.
On May 5 at 11:59 P.M. police were called to a disturbance on Saskatchewan Ave. near 7 St. NW, where two victims had been assaulted and required immediate medical attention.
Officers learned that the victims, along with other witnesses, were approached by three male suspects. When the suspects attacked the victims, witnesses fled to call police.
Investigators report they have very limited information on this aggravated assault and are asking that anyone with knowledge of this incident, or who can identify those involved, to contact the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445.
