“Portage la Prairie is short-listed as one of six communities nationwide to be the host site of the 2018 Coors Banquet One Horse Town concert series. It is decided by votes – so we’d like to get the word out widely and immediately,” says Vern May, executive director of the Portage Regional Economic Development (PRED).

Portage la Prairie country music fans have already been supportive enough that Portage has become one of six national finalists.

Each entrant’s submission was reviewed for content before being judged based on the following judging criteria: 40 per cent availability and suitability of concert venue, 40 per cent municipal infrastructure (public transit, hotel availability, hospital, distance, insurance), 15 per cent availability of bars/restaurants to host post event party and five per cent community spirit, as determined by the judging panel in its sole discretion.

The odds of becoming a Top 6 finalist depended upon the total number of eligible submissions received per region that met the judging criteria as determined by sponsor in the official contest rules.
