Canada Day 2018

Chloe, a Maltese Cockapoo, a former Portager, brought her A+ game to Stride Place July 1 to celebrate Canada Day.

The rain came down in buckets at one point causing many to flee for cover, but celebrating Canada’s 151 birthday July 1 at Stride Place was still enjoyed and appreciated by many.

Canada Day cadets at Hillside

Robert A. Oldford, standing, President of the Portage la Prairie Legion and Robert F. Oldford, 12, a cadet, spent time Canada Day honouring Portage la Prairie veterans buried at Hillside Cemetary by placing a poppy on their graves. Annually the Legion and the cadets visit the cemetery early on Canada Day to commemorate the efforts of local veterans.
