Brothers Zed will play Concerts in the Park on July 12. Submitted

What can you say about two brothers with a love for music…? On July 12 Concerts in the Park patrons will not only hear what the brothers who continue to keep it fresh after many decades of playing together, have to say, but what they have to play.

Brothers Zed is Rob Zabowski (acoustic guitar & vocals) and Kevin Zabowski (drums & percussion). Born and raised on the prairies of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, these musical siblings have been entertaining crowds at various venues and festivals for over 30 years.

Drawing from likes of influential songwriters like Paul Simon, Steve Earle, John Mellencamp, and Ryan Adams, the brothers’ original music combines their own style of roots and world music with blues and folky funk.

The Brothers Zed have been busy working on an expected late 2018 album release while looking forward to scheduled shows and performing their own blend of acoustic covers and originals.

At age four Mavis Brennan began picking familiar tunes out by ear on the old family piano, a prelude to a long and accomplished musical career.

Mavis was encouraged as a youngster to learn, learn, learn and today as a member of Brennan’s Bounty, she is encouraged by the growing following the local band enjoys.

The youngest of four children, Mavis grew up on a farm southwest of Morden, MB. Her family was very musical; her dad a Bing Crosby-styled singer and a fiddle player.

So when she started showing musical promise at the piano, her parents decided to enroll her in piano lessons. Her piano teacher encouraged the family to enroll her in singing lessons and she took part in the Community Children’s’ choir.

Over the years the choir performed at the Centennial Concert Hall, Pantages Theatre and also performed with Rick Neufeld debuting his hit song Moody Manitoba Morning on the Legislature grounds in Winnipeg.

Mavis studied piano and theory through the Toronto Conservatory of Music writing national exams in both until Grade 10 in music was accomplished.  She performed in the yearly Festival of the Arts and Music winning numerous trophies for piano, voice and poetry.

Mavis performed in numerous stage productions over the years such as high school musicals and also starred in a Grand Old Opry production written and produced by her brother Terry Titchkosky.

Mavis has performed in various bands over the years. Now is happily married to Charlie Brennan and ecstatic to be entertaining with the family band, Brennans’ Bounty!
