A Portage la Prairie man was arrested on July 20 after police raided an Alfred Ave. residence and seized meth, weapons and stolen property.
Michael Whiddon, 21, of Portage la Prairie, was held in police custody until he could be brought before the court. Whiddon is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and failing to comply with a weapons prohibition.
The RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PDS), executed a search warrant at 316 Alfred Avenue in Portage la Prairie at about 1 a.m. on July 20. A 20-year-old woman, a 26-year-old man, both not identified by police and Whiddon, were arrested in a detached garage at the address. Residents of the home were removed from the property while it was searched by police.
Investigators found methamphetamine, prohibited weapons and stolen property inside the garage. The woman and man were released and will appear in court.
