The Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC) is launching its “Little Free Pantry” project at 4 p.m. this afternoon outside of the Red River College.
In an email, PCRC Community Engagement Coordinator Alejandra Gonzalez says The Little Free Pantry is for neighbours helping neighbours. “Its purpose varies — it is for those who may not be able to meet everyday food and personal item needs, it can serve as an afterschool snack stop for students walking home from school, or it’s that cup of sugar you never have when you’re in the middle of baking.”
Little Free Pantry is also for those who want to give a little extra back. The goal is for the Little Free pantry to be self-sustaining. “If you have extra one month, give back. If the next, you’re in need, Little Free pantry can help with an item or two,” she said.
The Little Free Pantry launch is Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
