Riding the edge: the next generation a solo exhibition by Kathy Levandoski is next up at the Portage & District Arts Centre.
Riding the Edge: the next generation is a solo exhibition that has resulted since Levandoski’s 2016 exhibit, Riding the Edge. Living in such close proximity to the Riding Mountains, she has been able to view this incredible landscape on a daily basis. A source of inspiration, this backdrop has helped her on her artistic journey. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree from Brandon University in 2014. Since graduation, she has been embarking on the completion of this exhibition as well as the development of a new body of work called Searching for Luminosity.
Levandoski is very active in her community and is involved in several ventures including The Harvest Sun Music & Art Society, the Kelwood Arboretum Garden & Art Park and the Eleanor Rose Outdoor Quilt Show. This exhibit will feature her large-scale oil paintings along with three unique installation pieces.
“Using manipulated photos merely as springboards – I am not interested in recreating a perfect photographic image – but rather in presenting sensitive interpretations and visceral responses to these springboards,” said Levandoski.
Riding the Edge: the next generation will open on Oct. 23 to Dec. 1. A free public opening reception and artist talk are scheduled for Nov. 4, at 2 pm. at the Portage & District Arts Centre (PDAC) 11-2nd Street NE (west doors of the William Glesby Building).
The Portage & District Arts Centre (www.portageartscentre.ca) is a registered charity that showcases and promotes the artworks of artists.
