When the commercial freezer in the main kitchen at the Herman Prior Activity Centre recently quit, administration at the non-profit once again had to look at finances to juggle numbers to see what would work.
“We contacted United Way and they were able to help us out in our dire need,” Herman Prior Activity Centre Executive Director Chris Dumont said after lerning of a possible funding avenue.
As a result, the Herman Prior Activity Centre became a very glad recipient of a Community Response Grant for $2,500. It helped cover most of the cost to replace the freezer that could no longer be repaired.
“Thank you so much Portage Plains United Way,” said Dumont.
Each year Portage Plains United Way reserves a portion of their fundraising campaign to be used for their Community Response Fund. The Community Response fund is designed to be able to provide funding, additional to our Member Agencies, to other nonprofit organizations, programs, and initiatives in our catchment area.
The Portage Plains United Way is in the heat of its 2018 fundraising campaign which helps make Community Response Fund grants possible.
