If you are still looking for a New Year’s resolution, here’s a free one for you: get a license for your pet.
On the City of Portage la Prairie website (http://www.city-plap.com), the city is offering pet licenses for the 2019 year at no cost if registered between Jan. 2 and March 31.
Pet licenses are required annually and expire Dec. 31 each year. All dogs and cats over the age of six months must have a pet license. The penalty for failing to obtain a valid pet license is $100.
If registered after March 31, the cost for a spayed/neutered dog or cat is $20. The cost for a non-spayed or intact dog or cat is $50.
Proof of current rabies vaccination will be required.
