On Jan. 27, Portage la Prairie RCMP arrested a female youth and charged her with; Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Carry Concealed Weapon in relation to a mid-December 2018 downtown incident.
At about noon on Dec. 13, 2018, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a robbery report from a business located in the 600 block of Saskatchewan Ave. W.
Police report a female suspect — a youth of unknown age — entered the business — police are not identifying the business — and approached the employee at the counter. The suspect demanded money from the employee while displaying a weapon. The employee did not comply with the demand and left empty-handed, reports Portage la Prairie Media Liaison Officer Cst. Larry Neufeld.
The youth was released on a Promise to Appear and conditions of an Undertaking. The youth will be appearing at a later date.
“We would like to remind the public not to put themselves in harm’s way. Property and cash can always be replaced and not worth getting injured,” Cst. Neufeld said.
