You have heard his booming huge voice as a busker at Sobey’s in Portage la Prairie, and if you take in the 30th annual Dauphin Countryfest this summer, you will hear him again.
Last week Lucien Spence won the J.P. Wiser’s Countryfest Competition Series earning him stage time at one of Dauphin’s Countryfest upper stages.
Spence has been collaborating with Dave Rodgers who works as his promoter, manager and songwriter duties as a lyricist.
The duo previously took their talent to the “big show” in Nashville to record. The Dauphin Countryfest Competition Series win is the latest in upstrokes in the big man’s career.
Here’s what the prize packet included:
- One (1) stage time slot at one of Dauphin’s Countryfest upper stages. Sole discretion will be reserved for Dauphin’s Countryfest to schedule the winning performer to a stage and time slot.
- One (1) weekend pass for Dauphin’s Countryfest per member of winning performance group plus a guest. Accommodation for the group in the form of a camping pass. (Performers will not be provided with camping equipment and must supply their own. Camping will be located behind the upper festival grounds with other performing groups.)
- One (1) weekend parking pass for Dauphin’s Countryfest Festival Site.
- Exchange District Studios Artists Package valued at over $5,000. Includes recording/mixing/mastering and publishing of one (1) song. This prize also includes studio time with multiple Juno award-winning artist Dave Wasyliw from Doc Walker. (No cash value, non-transferable, the winner must accept prize as awarded, scheduling will be done directly with Exchange District Studios.)
