Whoop and Hollar Open Mic & Jam Night at the Portage Legion is taking a Christmas break.
Deb Tripp hosted the Nov. 29 Open Mic & Jam under the new format. The host — a special guest — gets a mini 30-minute concert before inviting the performers who have signed up to play, recite, stand up comics, etc.
Josh Wright, artistic director of
invites all emerging and established artists in and around the Portage community to share their material with a supportive audience.
“We love seeing musicians come out to perform and jam, but if you like to sing, act, tell stories, write poetry, rap, dance, or perform comedy, the stage is also yours. And if you simply want to hang out and enjoy the show or bring an instrument for the jam session, you are most welcome.”
The Open Mic & Jam Night is free and accessible to the public, thanks in part to Portage Community Revitalization Corporation’s Small Grants Program.
The Whoop and Hollar Open Mic & Jam Night at the Portage Legion will resume on Friday, Jan. 31
The musical evenings will continue on the final Friday of each month into April.
