It’s a celebration of local talent Aug. 9 as both acts booked for Concerts in the Park make their music here.
Since it’s inception in 2014, Crooked Archers have always set their sites on original music as a way to stand out in the crowd. Members Rob Archer, Patrick Lefloch, Steven Verwey and Matt Evenson continue to believe that to be true
Writing and performing original songs has been the primary focus from the start as they worked weekly practices and live performances throughout the Portage area including PotatoFest, Canada Day and Concert in the Park, as well as the continued support of Badlands Promotions and it’s founder Dag Aymont.
In December 2017 they recorded a six track EP at Bedside Studios in Winnipeg and plan on returning in the fall of 2018 to complete a second EP with an equal amount of material. They use weekly rehearsals to take simple riffs and ideas and transform them into completed songs that are composed as a group.
Crooked Archers also like to pay homage to some of their favorite music as well. Queens of the Stone Age, Doyle Bramhall II, Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana are just some of the artists they cover in their recent live sets.
Maggie Davidson will be warming up the stage for Portage la Prairie’s local band, the Crooked Archers, on Aug. 9 at 6 p.m., at the beautiful Island Park outdoor stage.
First act takes the stage at 6 p.m., the Crooked Archers perform at 7 p.m.
