The stage at the William Glesby Centre is likely recognized as the premier venue for live entertainment in Portage la Prairie, but the acoustics in the Galleria, the hallway that runs through the building, has intrigued more than one musician.
Maybe the Galleria could become an “Off-Broadway” type venue for acoustic performances? One local musician and promoter who has played on the Glesby stage and makes a habit of impromptu acoustic performances in the Galleria says the venue is entirely full of promise.
“When you play in there it echoes all over the place…it’s as simple as that,” explains Terry Human. Human is promoting the Nov. 24 all acoustic musical performance in the Galleria he is billing as “Echoes in the Hallway”.
“As you play the hall is filled with sound, echoes if you want to call it that and the subsequent acoustic ambience is wonderful.”
The musicians will play at centre court in the Galleria for the 2 – 4 p.m. concert that is limited to 100 guests.
Performers include The Three Berts (Robert Marginet, Albert Wytinck and Norbert Simoens) and the Terry Human Band featuring Mark Morisseau, Bob Fleury, Elmer Nault and Human.
On top of the pleasant acoustics, combined the seven musicians have several hundred years of professional performing experience.
