Prairie Fusion to host CRJAE

Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment has been named CRJAE (Central Region Juried Art Exhibit) host and has issued a call for entries.

An annual event, the Central Region Juried Art Exhibit is in its 39 year and is organized by the Central Cultural Council. The committee is comprised of Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment, Golden Prairie Arts Council, Pembina Hills Arts Council, Tiger Hills Arts Association, Winkler Arts & Culture and the Community Development Branch – Central Region.

Artists and artisans of all skill levels, ages 15 and older who are residents of the Central Region, are given the opportunity to submit up to three pieces for this juried exhibition. If selected, their work will be displayed in a professional setting and receive critique from jurors approved by the Manitoba Arts Council.

From the entries received, 30 to 40 pieces are selected to go on tour within the Central Region. Ten pieces will be selected from the touring entries to participate in the Manitoba Rural and Northern Juried Art Show to be held in Winnipeg.

An artist only reception will be held on April 29 from 6 – 7 p.m. followed by a public opening at 7 p.m. This is the only opportunity to see all of the artworks entered into the CRJAE.

Call for entry

Jan. 1 – Feb. 15, 2021: early bird entry Fee $20/piece of artwork (maximum of three pieces);

Feb. 15 – March 1, 2021: regular entry fee $25/piece of artwork (Maximum of three pieces)

Final entry deadline is March 1, 2021

Must be an original concept and completed since November 2019: Examples of eligible work include visual arts pieces, photography, fiber arts, woodcarving, pottery and stained glass. Material that is copyrighted or from copies, paint nights, YouTube instructional videos, commercial kits or patterns will not be considered. Due to transportation and space limitations furniture is not eligible.

Artist statement: Must be 75 words or less and may be edited by the organizing committee. The Opening Reception Brochure is prepared based on information received by March 1, 2021. Email your artist statement to pdac@mymts.net.
