It was a bit more of a physical leap than a mental one for Canadian Mental Health Association Central volunteers to cope with the overwhelming response to its recent Happy Days Car Hop Fundraiser May 7 at the Herman Prior Activity Centre.
Armed with 50s music by Spectrum Light & Sound beautiful cars from the Vintage Cruisers car club but only a finite number of beef paddies and weiners, there was a small fear early on the food would run out.
“This is something else,” said Canadian Mental Health Association Central in Portage la Prairie Executive Director Sean Miller. “This is the first time we have this and while a bit overwhelming at times, we can’t be happier.”
The big takeaway: “it’s overwhelmingly positive,” the executive director said.
