The Portage Citizen — Organizers of Saturday’s Westpark Children’s Centre PAW Patrol must be sharing in the joy of the hundreds of children who filled Stride Place for a chance to meet some of the beloved characters of the Canadian TVOKids program.

The excitement to get into the arena from the primarily pint-sized crowd rivalled that of one trying to enter the arena to watch a playoff Terriers game.

Kids of all ages (with moms, dads and grandparents in tow) could be heard excitedly saying ‘PAW Patrol’ in the fast-moving line to gain entry. More than once the program catchphrase “Whenever you’re in trouble, just yelp for help!”, could be heard above the lineup din.

The Portage Active Transportation Committee kicked off its Bike Week 2018 by greeting all guests to the centre with a display, valet bike service, helping with maintenance and a bike wash.

The PAW Patrol programs centres on the adventures of a group of search and rescue dogs. Local first responders helped build the local adventure by having a patrol car and a firetruck available for youngsters to explore.
