The annual Portage Pride March is about a lot of things, but the complete celebration is about love, individuality, diversity, human rights, equity and equality in Portage la Prairie and beyond, organizers say.
The Pride community and supporters will gather May 11 to show their solidarity and in their way shed light into some of humanity’s darker corners. The day begins at 10 a.m. with a rally at Heritage Square/Herman Prior Activity Centre parking lot (40 Royal Rd. N.), speeches at 10:30 a.m. with the Pride March to follow at 11 a.m.
Organizers explain everyone is welcome — LGBT2QIA* people, Indigenous people/POC, folks with disabilities, women, newcomers to Canada, other marginalized groups and allies are encouraged to join in the rally and march. The rainbow represents colour and inclusion across all spectra.
