Chamber fires up “Santa Sleigh” to promote shop local

Santa won’t be making an appearance on Saskatchewan Ave. this year, but volunteers under a Santa Sleigh promotion are helping promote local shopping through a membership only delivery program.

It’s another highlight on how membership has its benefits!

The Portage la Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce is offering its small retail members a free delivery service launching Dec. 8 and running until Jan. 9.

“The chamber Santa Sleigh is a free delivery service for (chamber members) you,” the chamber says in an email to its members. “We will pick up your deliveries and provide contactless delivery for free. this will save you time, money and bring you more customers.”

The chamber Santa Sleigh will deliver within Portage la Prairie and 25 km in the surrounding areas. “We will deliver to your customers in Oakville, St. Claude, Macgregor, St. Ambroise, Poplar Point, and everywhere in between,” the chamber says.

“Whether you’re doing or own deliveries already or not, this will help you save time and show our community you can shop local without leaving home. And if you’re not delivering outside of Portage, this is a great way for your customers to stay home and still support local. They can order on the phone, or online and get it delivered right to their door.

“When you sign up for the free service, you will get a designated time and day(s) for your deliveries. We will also promote that you are one of the businesses that are now offering this service.”

The Santa Sleigh will deliver Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Contact Adrienne — chamber Santa Sleigh coordinator — to get your business involved.

“Please let me know if you are interested in this free service or if you want more info. We want to get started ASAP.”

The Santa Sleigh will not be delivering hot food or large items.

This service is for chamber members only.
