Library programming defies pandemic boredom

Library offering reading challenges and other programming.

Books may not be flying off the shelf at a normal pace at the Portage la Prairie Regional Library due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but pages in its interactive programming continue to turn.

“Why not while away the winter days with reading?,” suggests library Programming Coordinator Ashley Nelson. “Pick up a reading challenge at the library when you pick up your books or email for a digital copy,” she says.

Presently the library has two separate challenges: One for children ages 0 – 12 and one for teens and adults ages 13 and up. “The challenge runs until March 31, 2021, and every participant receives a prize at the end!! When you have completed the challenge form, either take a picture and email it to us or put it in the book drop.”

Along with the Reading Challenges, the library has activity packs for all ages including adults (limited supply – first come, first served)  LEGO challenges, contests, Virtual Storytime, a monthly guess, and more! “Check out our social media and our website for more information.”

When you have completed the Winter Reading Challenge form, either take a picture and email it to library or put it in the book drop.
