Pedestrian airlifted to Winnipeg following a highway accident

Shortly after midnight Sept. 5, a pedestrian was hit by a motor vehicle on Hwy. 1A at the east end of Portage La Prairie and had to be airlifted via STARS to the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg.

Portage la Prairie RCMP report the accident happened at 12:12 a.m. and involved a 34-year-old female who was struck by a motor vehicle while walking along the eastbound lane of the highway. Ambulance personnel attended and the victim was transported in stable condition.

Road conditions at the time of the collision were rainy and wet.

The investigation is ongoing.
