The investigation surrounding the discovery of human remains in Portage la Prairie has been determined to be a homicide. Police are now asking the public for any information that may lead to identifying the victim.
RCMP responded to a report of found human remains near Baker Street on June 24, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The identity of the remains is unknown and the RCMP along with Major Crime Services, Forensic Identification Services and the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, continue to investigate.
Police today are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the victim. An autopsy was conducted and the victim is described as being a male between the ages of 20 – 40, 5’7” – 6’2” in height, has scoliosis of the spine (curvature of the spine) and brown hair, possibly medium length.
