The Fort Restoration Project at the Fort la Reine Museum started in fall 2020 is nearly halfway thanks to a private $10,000 donation.
“The fundraising campaign for the Fort Restoration Project officially relaunched in the Fall of 2020, and we have been extremely grateful to have had several contributions from supporters in our community. Most notably, we have just received an impressive donation of $10,000 from a prominent family in Portage la Prairie,” says Madison Connolly, Fort la Reine Museum executive director.
“Our current goal for Phase 1 of the project (to restore the Bastion towers and build new exhibition spaces for Indigenous histories and world views) is $100,000. With the $10,000 donation, we have just about reached 50 percent of our fundraising goal,” she said.
To boost fundraising, the museum has established a GoFundMe page (Fundraiser by Fort la Reine Museum : Fort Restoration Project (gofundme.com) to help the fundraising project continue to advance.
