Sept. 1, Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 were all Fundraising Days at Portage MCC.

The three local agencies that benefited are Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage la Prairie; Youth For Christ/Portage, and the Prairie Pregnancy Support Centre.

“Hold three fundraisers in 35 days? Sure we can! With the huge support from our volunteers and staff, we were able to pull off this feat,” says MCC Office Manager, David Kanne.

“With the exceptional help of our faithful volunteers and staff, along with volunteers from each of the local programs, and our customers and donors, we were able to donate $4,000 to three deserving local agencies. Thanks to our donors and customers, $12,000 has been given back to our community.

A huge thank you to everyone participating and helping us raise awareness and funds for the three important agencies! For more information on the local work of:

About Portage MCC

Portage MCC has been in operation in Portage la Prairie since 1983. We sell donated clothing, books, furniture, hardware, and other household items at our two stores in order to raise income for the ministry of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). The shops are ministries in and of themselves, providing low-cost goods to people in our community while raising funds for international and local aid. Both the Thrift Shop and Furniture Plus also make valuable contributions to good stewardship and a healthy environment by recycling items that might otherwise be thrown away. We also provide a sense of community to volunteers and the people we serve through social interaction in a caring environment.
