Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the official opposition, Andrew Scheer, announced the appointment of a strong, diverse team to lead the Conservative caucus and re-appointed the Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Bergen as the opposition House leader.
Bergen has been the opposition house leader since September 2016.
“I am honoured to continue to serve as the Conservative opposition house leader,” said Bergen. “Canadians gave our leader and Conservative caucus a strong mandate to fight on their behalf and to remain focused on holding the Trudeau Liberal government to account.”
“As house leader, I will ensure that we use the parliamentary tools we have at our disposal to keep Canada united, to restore ethics to government, to get workers in the forestry and energy sectors back to work and to help make life more affordable for all Canadians.”
The 43rd Parliament will convene on Dec. 5.
